Amanda Whittome on TV3

The competition is on again. This week marked the official launch of the annual Irish Hairdressing Championships.

The prestigious awards, which take place this March, will see hundreds of the country's top stylists battle it out to win the top prize - the coveted Irish Hairdresser of the Year title.

Amanda Whittome (Melo Yelo) is the current title holder and was invited by TV3 to launch the competition for the year 2010. Last year Amanda Whittome was the first hair stylist outside of Dublin to win the title of "Irish hairdresser of the year".

The year 2009 was full of satisfaction for Amanda: "It was a tremendous year, full of different seminars and opportunity to get better and better", says Amanda, "After all the title represented a point of starting and not of arrival".
